John “Jack” Frede – Filmmaker & Cinematographer

I’m an award-winning filmmaker and cinematographer based in Chicago, dedicated to crafting powerful visuals and compelling stories that make audiences think, laugh, or cry.

My passion for filmmaking started in high school through my New Media class, where I directed live productions like TEDx events and talent shows. Those early experiences sparked my love for visual storytelling and laid the foundation for my career. I find deep joy in collaborating with others, and it was out of that passion for partnership that I founded Frede Films. Since then, I’ve worked with brands, companies, and individuals to build a diverse portfolio that includes commercial work, documentaries, and short-form narratives. With a strong eye for cinematography, I focus on creating visually striking and emotionally resonant stories.
